Which isn't to say there aren't genuinely spooky areas and scary moments. There are ominous, off-screen sounds when you get close to one of Core Keeper's bosses. Breaking through a wall and suddenly seeing you're at the edge of a massive chasm is alarming, and building a narrow bridge across it doesn't feel comfy at all (even though you can't actually fall in).

Aside from the cosmetics, you'll also have Core Keeper Gameplay to pick your "Background" which is an initial set of starting skills and equipment. None of these bonuses are truly exclusive and you can eventually earn everything from all of the other Backgrounds.

Portals can be crafted and placed in the world, enabling teleportation. Vanity slots allow players to change equipment appearance using a Dresser.

Generally speaking, it's a good idea to place your base near the Core. The Core has a Waypoint which can teleport you to other areas, and crafting your own Waypoints and Portals is expensive.

Soul of Ra-Akar. Once a power is collected, the boss's sigil is added to the Souls tab of the character screen. Each sigil can be clicked to toggle that ability on or off.
